I almost went to school there. They have the trucking school right across the street from them and they work deals with them. I went to school as a diesel mechanic and when I moved back to Florida I looked into MFT but the curriculum was the same. I didnt have my CDL at the time and that interested me when I was talking to the instructor there. Didnt make it to that point though cause the repeat curriculum didnt appeal to me. I ended up working at that Honda on OBT. I moved on and ended up where I wanted to be anyhow. Diesel degree and all.
Good choice on school and it looks like itll work out well for you. Good luck!
Finally!! Start Mid Florida Tech today.

Thought the day would be spent practicing set ups and backing, then some alone time on the shift track.......well instructors had something else in mind. After lunch while
i was walking out to the truck I was told to get my log book and be ready to hit the road with Derren the road instructor........, got my thoughts together, sucked it up and said lets go! Tobi my partner was chosen too and would be the first driver. I really wanted be first just to get it over with ,but it was fun watching Tobi mash a few gears and miss those down shifts.
I knew my time would come and of course I missed quite a few down shifts. definitely need some work, but I'm sure I'll have it down in the next few weeks. Still have the 10 and 13 speeds to learn. So being the first in the class to go on the road was a nice compliment and set a good tone for the weekend. Got home last night and didn't miss any gears with momma if you know what I
mean!The Challenger and 123456 Thank this. -
Does sound like a compliment. Great job.

Thanks Lantern. I've read some of your posts, hang in there, August will be here before you know it.
The Challenger Thanks this. -
Haha can't come soon enough.

Today went well. Started off practicing parallel parking, saw the shuttle take-off
then went to the shift track to spend an hour honing my shifting and turning. Only clipped a few barrels
. Went to lunch and when we came back it was back on the road again. I felt more relaxed, the track helped this morning with getting those downshifts smooth, so I think I did well for a noob! Took a different route back to the school and was able to get some I4 time. Got back around 3pm and continued to practice my docking.
So far out of 10 students we're down to 6, lost another today and I think we may loose one more to the "B" class that would leave 5. One of the guys will be leaving as soon as he gets his cdl so that will leave just the 4 of us for convoys. Thats it for now have a bunch of homework to wrap up.......later.123456 and The Challenger Thank this. -
Yesterday Donna from Windy Hill stopped by. Thanks to this sight I knew a bit about the company. She gave a straight forward presentation and seemed pretty cool, I like that they don't want to go to E-logs, seems they want people who can run hard. Will be handing my Ap in next week and see what happens. The rest of the day was spent on honing our docking maneuvers.......starting to get a bit boring
, dont want to get to ####y,I'm not out of the woods yet.
Instructors are finishing up with the "B" class so I wasn't able to go out on the road. Last night finished all the homework assignments which were due this morning. The class uses the book "Bumber To Bumber" for the majority of class assignments and today we're finally done with all the book work. No one got on the road today so it was just shift track and more practice. So after ten days I think I'm doin alright as are the rest of my class, except one. She's having a tough time, but still hanging in there.
Tomorrow I'm set to go out first on the road with "Turkey Killer" its a Freightliner Cassic with a 10 speed CAT, hopefully all will go well so I can head home on a good note.
IronHorseKen Thanks this. -

Thanks for the info, thats about what I thought they would look like. I'm still going to check them out because they will still hire me even if I live in Sarasota. Like I said, they like to run hard and I'm a big boy will just have to see if I even get hired. If anyone has worked for Windy Hill recently please feel free. Most of there info on here is a little old. Another thing I like is there more of a family run business and not some mega coolie carrier. Application process didn't feel like I was applying for the CIA.
