Hey there Jack -
Congratulations! Sounds like you had it going on, huh? Man that is really impressive. I didn't score that high, but at least I don't have to worry about you running over me at a truckstop, huh? hehehehe Proud of you man.... good to hear it!
As far as the jobs go, not sure what to tell you about local in your area, but there are several companies that do not go to Canada, Mexico, and NYC. Magnum (the one I am going with) does not go there, nor do they do the NE. Might could check with them if the local thing doesn't work out.
Yeah, I was going to go with Conway, and I have nothing against them.... they are a great starter company. But I am getting a few things from Magnum that was not available with Conway, so it steered me the way I went. Not that I would recommend them over Conway, it just worked out where Magnum perfectly fit my wants and needs. And everyone I have talked to from there are really nice. Also a big plus.
Well good luck with your search! You obviously have it going on, so you shouldn't have a hard time getting hired. But if you do get out on the road, hunt me down (or at least let me know you are out here). I hear the cappucino in Minnesota is really good..... hehehehehe
Holler back!

Well I'm set for Joplin on the 16th with Conway .. nothing is perfect but it's not Swift/Werner/Covenant/etc.. so I'm quite jazzed. And I really like the training pay, .26/mile vs the standard $300/$400 per week .. 2500 miles will gross about $650/week .. and man do I need it.
I know the vets probably laugh at us getting so excited but I'm really wanting to get behind the wheel again .. especially in one of those nice new(er) trucks .. as compared to the '98 Frightliner I trained and tested in .. hehehe
See ya round!

Hey scooterdawg,
Thanks for all the at of boys, I look at the Magnum website and see that they have a terminal here in Michigan and seem to run all around me, all I seen was O/O drivers, did not see anything about company driver as for pay cpm, or anything am I missing something here? Is there someone you would recommend to talk with are a different website that has that info so that I might review before I make a call.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks Mark

Special Ops,
I'll jump in here in Scooter's absence. I was the one that turned Scooter on to Magnum and I just finished my training there and was assigned my own truck this past Thursday. Magnum does have a starting rate that they offer student drivers, but I don't know if it's posted on their website and I don't want to post it in public. I would tell you to call Magnum and talk with their recruiter. They are only looking for the best applicants and, when they find them, they may be willing to negotiate that starting rate, but not by much. I will say this much, at my starting rate and 'if' I qualify for their bonus each month (10,000 miles, safety, logs, etc.) then my combined earnings will match the best offers I was made by anyone.
If you have any other Magnum questions, give me a shout. I'm on my hometime until at least Monday.

Hey IronRydr,
Thanks for the input in Scooterdawg,s absence. Scooterdawg PM'ed me and told me a little bite about this company. Need a little more information, from my understanding this is a smaller company, how many trucks do they run, are you having trouble getting the miles, what do they run reefer or dry van, I live in Michigan what is the time out verus home time, do they use DAC, like some of the mill companies we all know the ones that like to put everything and anything on your report if you don't agree with them, and end your driving career before it even starts.
I have driven before, but I let my CDL's expire while in the Military and had to get them back how long do they require you to be out with a trainer before getting assigned your own truck and load, you can PM me and let me know this information I would greatly appreciate it. I graduated the top of my class with a 99 GPA so like scooterdawg said I should not have any problems getting hired on with companies. I just want to stay away from the bottom feeders as much as possible. I owe no company any of my time in repayment for training. Please PM me and let me know.
Thanks
Jack

Special Ops-
Glad to see your school is over, and work is on the horizon.
Thought I'd post a little to tell you about the wife and I. We went to orientation last week foir an expediting company, and are going to drive for a small fleet owner. We went and picked the truck up from him last night, and are placing ourselves in service tonight.
Please be sure to keep us posted who you end up taking on with. We'll look forward to seeing you on the road. We'll be pretty much living there.
Good luck, my friend.

Hey All -
This is one tired puppy and really not up to a long post tonight, but here is the long and the short of it.
My driver to ND got rerouted and at the last minute, it was decided that I was gonna need to jump on a bus. FORTY HOURS LATER, I am in Fargo, checking into my hotel, and bedding down around 3am this morning. Back up at 615, picked up at 730, at orientation by 8. Wizz quiz, videos and paperwork.... lunch..... more videos, and then road test # 330. Hired at 415.... yup I am officially a Big Truck Truck Driver!
Now for the kicker.... ice everywhere and raining all day. Rather slick, but pulled it off. And no dead nuns! Folks I am so tired I really don't feel like typing tonight, but I will bring you all up to speed tomorrow. With only 6 hours of sleep since Friday night, there ain't a lot left to me right now..... but I wanted to let you know!
CAN I GET A WOOHOO?!?!?! <scooterdawg collapses on the bed>dawgfan, luvtheroad, Hopetobeontheroadsoon and 2 others Thank this. -
