I just signed up for the forum, and can already tell that this will be a great resource.
I've never been a truck driver before, but have had a bit of an interest in it for a long time. Back in about '94 I went so far as to go through the training class for Schneider National, but ended up deciding not to drive, and stay in the business world.
I tried one business that didn't work out, and then spent the last 11 years in the mortgage business. Started my own mortgage company in 2002, and had a number of very good years. Most of you know how that story ended though, as the economy has been pretty hard on the whole mortgage industry.
After looking for some office type jobs and not finding anything decent, I decided that if I ever wanted to get out on the open road, that now was the time to do it. I hope to get going on some training in the next month, so I'll keep you all updated on where I end up.
I love reading all the stories you share. Best of luck to you out on the road. Here's wishing you many safe, and happy miles!
Finally taking the plunge!

Yep. I'm in my 30th year of winter driving. Hopefully that will help when I'm out behind the wheel of a big rig.
