Not having reciprocity with Canada is ridiculous. Way too much cross border traffic to get in a pissing match with them when they retaliate. And if it did happen rates would be good for a while until everyone runs out and buys trucks then it will be the same as now when the market tanks. There are existing regulations that need to be enforced but they’re not. The answer isn’t to go completely nuclear the other way and ban non-citizens.

Imagine half of gas stations shut down and the remaining ones start charging double. Technically it's good for gas station owners, but everyone else will hate it.JimmyTwoTimes, Sirscrapntruckalot, 77fib77 and 1 other person Thank this.

Imagine thinking of foreigners that are not able to speak English being put first before citizens. I am okay if they take everyone off the USA roads if they cannot speak English fluently. I am sure pretty much any other country has the same thought process. Some reason USA is different for some strange reason. For the record I love the people that come over that want a better life and want to be a true part of America and not want to change our country into there's.Gearjammin' Penguin, broke down plumber, 86scotty and 7 others Thank this.

You don't think that those millions of gas stations operated by people that can't speak English or don't have needed paperwork wouldn't be replaced by American citizens sooner or later and the price would come down and stabilize. It just bothers me that young people trying to find a job in this industry are having trouble and then you'll see some body running illegal that can't speak or read English for pennies on the dollar of a wage.Gearjammin' Penguin, broke down plumber, ShortBusKid and 6 others Thank this.

You’re already supposed to be able to understand English. Just because that’s not being enforced isn’t a good reason to pander and grandstand. Young people don’t want to drive truck. We’ve seen that with the under 21 pilot program that everyone was all up in arms about that fizzled out and amounted to nothing.

Why?
It says non citizens without U.S. issued CDLs aand no English proficiency.
If you are a non citizen with U.S. issued CDL and speak English proficiently, you're good.
Green Cards e.i.legal status are not even mentioned. They can be on work visas, or work permits too.Gearjammin' Penguin, broke down plumber, Constant Learner and 2 others Thank this. -
DOT won't get involved with ICE business.
If someone is issued CDL, their legal residency status should be checked right there, at the issuing agency.tarheelsfan105, broke down plumber, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this. -
Dude, half the idiots that want to kick them thar ferners out dont speak English fluently.
-
If that's the case and people who are here legally and hold US CDL are good to continue working (even if they don't have US citizenship), I wouldn't have a problem with it.Gearjammin' Penguin and Siinman Thank this.

Not a bad deal at all. Should be standard across USA. Pretty common sense law from what I understand of it.DUNE-T Thanks this.
