Yeah right, everyone who has a friend that tells them great stories. Hearsay that is only muddied by someone repeating the story. Plus you can have a contract fro whatever amount they want, doesn't mean they're hauling it.
Everyone is cutting rates to keep their equipment moving. IF you have a 1000 trucks you can float on volume for awhile. If you have one or a few trucks you have to get operating cost plus some profit or you go under.
Some brokers may be gouging rates but not all and directs I deal with know the market and are taking full advantage of it. There is very little 3 dollar a mile freight make whatever moronic statements you like if it makes you feel better.

Two things I know to be true only because I've seen it. Over here at mercer we have plenty of freight that's over 3.00 per mile (contract freight). When you take my carrier cut out it comes down to 2.25 per mile. You can ask plenty of the guys on our thread and they'll tell you that they can get over 2.25 TTT. My buddy at landstar showed me that they have quite a bit of 3.00 per mile freight on their board, a lil bit for van but mostly open deck, but once again that's what their agents quote. So for you to make the statements that you're making is untrue. Never confuse "if I can't do it then nobody can" mentality. It's still good paying contract freight and poor paying. Right now the bad outweighs the good.

Hey just because you're cheap doesn't mean we all are.

My local credit union does that too. You do not have to be at a mega bank for that convenience.

That's only partially true the freight isn't contract freight. The same loads are sent out to many carriers/brokers by blast emails so there is nothing exclusive and to make it worse if time permits they will bid the loads.
Seems more and more freight is being run through Forwarders and management type companies and is being shopped around before booking. The same loads mercer, landstar and CHR have I get in my email as well.
Price is king for the most part if time permits

Where have I ever said I haul cheap? You are assuming facts not in evidence or have an comprehension problem.

I just bought a truck at a Volvo dealership in Houston two days ago. A 2017 T780 with $15,000 down. But I had an 750 credit score. And it still wasn't easy. I tried to buy a new truck back in 2014 (same credit score) but I was turned down by every dealership due to lack of O/O experience and I ended up with Lone Mountain which ended up to be a nightmare. Just by luck I happened to give trying to buying a new truck "one more shot" at a time when Volvo is having a current special on mostly 2016 trucks. If you buy a truck from them before the end of February you can save thousands of dollars on the price and you'll get a $2000 parts card (which will take a few weeks to be delivered). But I had decided to go for the 2017 instead. I got them to reduce the monthly payments under 3,000 a month. Also I found out if you are approved by Volvo finance at one dealership it's good at all of them. So you can call around at different Volvo dealerships to get them to give you a better deal. Plus your credit won't get pulled multiple times. It's worth a shot.
