Pretty gutsy especially in this economy. Tri-State does owner ops too but I have been burned in a lease purchase before so I stick with good paying company gigs.
Of course if you can get financed through a dealer then at least you will have lower payments and less beholden to the carrier you lease on with.
If I were to do a l/p again I would probably go for DOT line. Turn and burn pulling doubles cross country. No customer deliveries either as I hear it. -
I am considering Landstar, Heartland, Express-1, or Panther so far in my O/O prospects, but I will look into DOT LINE
-
I have a friend that pulled for heartland for 4 years, said he loved them. If he went back on the road thats where he would go. Good treatment and great pay.

As of today we are leaning to Interstate, though I am putting apps in at Celadon, and Knight. I also am considering lightly the Centeral and ATS lease program (I know I know) just to get the general O/O expierence that my financing company prefers I have to give me a loan. But for the moment, leaning toward Interstate, waiting on a word from them.

checkout some of the celadon threads. I believe "bunny" is in the log department there. Also "country cruisers" seem to be doing well there. They also have lease option from an outside source in case things go well at that company. I believe they are out of Indiana. Just wondering, do you have any horse experience?
-
I have owned four horses, and two were draft horses. So I have horse expierence, both large, and small. Why will I be transporting horses at Celadon cause that would be a big plus
-
Nooooo! (ha ha) My wife and I have made a transition into hauling horses commercially and we absolutely love it! We have both been into horses all of our lives and decided to combine what we love with our driving experience and this is what we've come up with. No more waiting at walmart to get unloaded for 19 hours. We pull up to farm or track walk the horses out and were done. When we have the day off we still get paid, and put up in a hotel which is also paid. We mainly run chicago to FL but it depends on what company you work for.

Check on Watkins-Shepard. When I was there i talked with several teams and they were treated well. I liked them as a solo driver. Only reason I am not still there is I had to come off the road for a while for family reasons. May be back soon. Will start first looking at Watkins-Shepard. There is a long thread on here somewhere that talks a lot about them.
Keep us posted. -
Oh yeah I forgot, we don't get paid by the mile either. Salary!!!!
