Pick a state with no personal income taxes; there are 9 of them.
Wikipedia on Googe has a map of the 9 states. Wyoming is one of them; the one your wife likes. I chose Nevada recently for my new home. Texas is also good for trucking jobs.
Redfin website is excellent to chose a zip code or area for renting or buying a home. You can look at school ratings matched with neighborhoods. Each house/apt/condo is matched with a school. We spent hours on Redfin to put the best match together for our situation with 2 young children.
City-data website is good to use in conjunction with Redfin.
My grown daughter also has researched WY; that's her goal, Western WY. She likes those small towns around Little America in Western WY.Last edited: Sep 2, 2013

East texas, east texas, east texas. Did anyone mention east texas?

You may also want to look into Newark NJ.Very nice place to raise a family..

Wyoming is a great place half of the year, Cheyenne is an excellent town for families. The wind is horrible for 6 months or so out of the year... winter can be a tough one. Sometimes the whole state or majority is shutdown because of the roads with winter storms.. Gillette is the second largest city in Wyo, lots of energy jobs. I would go with East Texas...

Lol.. you'll regret not having houston on your top 3 choices.

I'd say eastern-ish Texas or Eastern Temnesse (I-81) area
both no state income tax , Florida too but way northern if you want to OTR
south of Orlando & it's hard to get loads in & out! -
Thanks for the replies again. Im guessing we should look at texas! She likes eastern tenn to. I guess I shouls just take her to look at tenn and texas. Im guessing texas wouls probably be easier to be an o/o then tenn to.
