I find it strange that a fair amount of people who are against frivolous lawsuits are all of the sudden in support of them when it's somebody like CNN getting sued over a story. These examples should be cited as frivolous before cases where people actually got harmed by hot coffee or a car accident.

That would be because lying to the public en mass can actually cause outrage and even change elections. The sticky wicket is who determines what is truth? I mean FNC got used for almost a billion dollars for calling out the problems with voting machines. Turns out they were right and that hackers have hacked into Dominion voting machines more than once to demonstrate how easy it is. But FNC still lost the lawsuit.RockinChair Thanks this.

They are called "nuclear verdicts" and it's already happening. It's happened to Werner twice in the last 5 years to the tune of over 100 million both incidents. Both times their driver was found to be not at fault by law enforcement at the scene. At Fault and not at fault only determines how many zeroes are going to be on the check. This is why the carriers have have put all the safety technology equipment and cameras on these trucks. You cannot go into a court room without it!

They don't have proof that it was him, just he was in the area for a half hour. It could have been a different truck. I dint get it. Then it's 47 million. Or it could be a lie to cover up the guy killing people.
