I was thinking more along the lines of Nick Sandmann. That kid was suing for millions because his feelings got hurt. His privileged life wasn't going to be affected at all. In the list of frivolous lawsuits, his should be mentioned alongside the ones from 30+ years ago where people could actually show damages.

I felt the same way until I researched the case myself.

She was badly burned, McDonald's "confidential internal documents" showed Macs KNEW their coffee was too hot.

She just wanted her medical bills covered. $185,000.

Macs told her to eff off.

So she sued. And the money she got? Those millions?

That was the PROFIT from ONE DAY of McDonald's WORLD WIDE COFFEE sales.

Just sayin, yeah, there are frivolous lawsuits, and yeah, it seems our legal system is weaponized.....but don't take the propaganda from the lawyer's lobbies, and just swallow it whole.

Only way to find the truth anymore is look it up yourself.

And I realize that not everyone wants to do that.

You should see all the billboards for Alexander Shunnarah down south. It used to be just an Alabama thing. Now it's Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Wikipedia says several more states. Looks like he's invaded Wisconsin too lol.

No, he sued because he was slandered on national TV by a national news network. They lied about him. He rightfully sued the #### out of CNN and should have. There are consequences to your actions. Libel and slander are civil offenses punishable by fines.

He was slandered so badly he couldn't find a job because everyone thought he had picked on that weird indian dude. Turns out the weird indian dude PICKED ON HIM.

Walmart has one of the best drivers out there and they have 19 fatalities and 232 injuries for the last 24 months. This occupation is dangerous and bad things will happen no matter what. It needs a legal protection from parasites like that out there.

Every driver they have out there is one of the best. A closer look at their safer scores shows they're way below average for out of service. Pretty good for a company with about 15,000 drivers. Way better than most companies with hundreds or thousands of drivers.

I certainly think it's a more nuanced topic than that. While I tend to agree that sometimes nuclear verdicts can be over the top, I also keep my cousin in the back of my mind. She would've been 35 this year; she was killed the day before her 21st birthday by an inept driver. Whiteout conditions- she'd pulled over off the road. Dude was doing something and not paying attention and smashed her car. They had to cut the steering wheel out of her chest. I recall that when they went to court over the lawsuit, the carrier's lawyer tried to put the blame on her. Bout broke my aunt a second time. At any rate, there's times like that, I think, that make sense for a hefty suit. Folks can't get their loved ones back, but there has to be some recompense for it.

That's not to say though, that very frequently, the ambulance chasers aren't making the whole thing worse. They absolutely are, and the thought of vicarious liability keeps me up at night, sometimes. All I know is that it would take a smarter man than me, with a far keener legal mind to find the middle ground.

While im approaching the 4 million mile mark (more then half as a team) and well over the 10 year mark. Ill weigh in anyway and say that imo i think a GOOD driver is the sort who gets enough rest, does their pre and post trips, ensures the load is secured, the truck passes inspection, has good instincts and is not afraid to shut down if/when needed. Can think on their feet such as routeing around closed roads or large backups. Does their trip planning so as little as posible is a suprise and so on.

Generally speaking a good driver does all the little things that ensure the truck has max uptime and miles with minimal fuss.

An ok driver is the dude who can get the load to the dock without destroying everything around him.

I hate linking youtube videos usually but this one sums it up. mcdonalds was serveing coffee so hot it was basically boiling. And before this incident several people including children had gotten 3rd degree burns. The mcdonalds suit was a lot more ligit then people think. Another little known fact is mcdonalds paid millions to various media groups to smear the woman 10 ways to sunday after the fact.

It was frivolous because the spill happened after the vehicle had pulled away from the window. No company should be held liable for their product being mishandled after the company delivers it to the customer because the company cannot control what is done with their product once it is no longer in their possession.
