    WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG

This is a BS line told by scum and morons to try and trick new guys into working cheap. The bottom line is that you're doing the same job as everyone else. You're moving stuff from Point A to Point B. If you're doing it without breaking anything, hitting anything and showing up on time then you deserve just as much money as a guy who's been in business for 100 years.

The only issue you might experience setting up as a new carrier is some places won't set up until you've been in business 3-6 months. The longest I've seen is a year. Once you're set up though you deserve the same rate for the same job as everyone else. Don't settle for anything less!

Thanks guys I talked to OOIDA the other day and they seem like some great folks. Any recommendations on trucks and trailers? I really enjoy my 14 kenworth t800 with tri axle aluminum flatbed. I believe the spread on the bed is 102" and I believe i can carry about 120k gross on it, would prefer an 18 speed. I'm just not a big fan of tens, dont mind the 13's, but for going uphill with a heavy load my 18 speed has usually worked the best.

Well a T800 properly configured is good for any job. It's about the most versatile truck there is. I'd recommend against a Tri Axle flat unless you have some specialty work for it.

I mainly want to have a heavy haul set up, with the tri axles I'll be able to haul more legally.

Only in certain states.I'm plated for 86k because of my spread in all states that allow it. A t800 is a fairly light truck. As long as you can scale 48k you're good to go for regular flatbed loads. What you might do is put a lift kit on one or multiple axles so you can run it like a regular flat when you want and put it down for heavy haul when you got the work. As long as you can keep your tare weight under 32k it won't matter.

Sounds good, are there any year restrictions as an o/o with brokers or hauling any type of freight with a company?
