    OK, having your own authority and owning your own truck and leased on to a company are 2 different situations. If you buy a truck/trailer and get your own authority, then you really don't have to qualify to get loads, you just have to find them, normally through a broker. BUT, some/most brokers won't deal with newbie O/O with authority until his authority is 6 months old. Another problem is getting insurance coverage and financing if you are fresh meat. (It's that old addage, you got no experience). I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish, but I would suggest you buy a power unit and find a small O/O that has 5-15 trucks that will lease you on with his authority and guide you along as you go with his wisdom. Of course, he has to be honest and not rip you off. Do not ever buy a truck from the carrier you are leased on to. They own your soul and wallet.
