I know. As I said, the 4300-400 does not deadkey that high. If it is showing that high of a deadkey that something is not right. Especially with the RF power turned all the way down.

Took my little Cobra 18 and hooked it up this morning. SWR reads 1.5 dead on! And there is very little difference between ch 1 and 40. Were talking 1.4 and 1.6 swing on the meter.

Ill do just as Xcis is saying with the multimeter. I also still need to move the radio ground wire to chassis instead of battery.

Do yall think since its reading good SWR's with the Cobra that the Connex may already be fried? Or is it because the Connex throws so much power all my little problems are amplified x100?

I was referring to the watt meter reading on the Radio Shack Meter. That should show a power reading when I key up, but dont talk, right? The little 18 shows about 20w when I do the same thing with it. Actually, its always been a #### good little radio lol.

Yes there is something wrong because that 18 is not going to dead key 20 watts
