Why would having worked for Swift be a bad thing when finding a different carrier? Ya the training was quite rushed but they were one of the few I found that would train me in exchange for working off the tuition as I am incredibly broke and could not aford to pay out of pocket to get this thing going. So my thinking was drive for them and work out the contract period and leave in good standing. that way I can show I dont just up and run out on someone after agreeing to something and that I ill have had at least a years experience driving a truck(Something I do not currently have to offer). Sure I know swift pays less than most but I have heard far less negative about them than any of the others. So lesser of two evils i guess. But I never heard before that working for them could be a bad thing on a Resume....

I am in no way dedicated to working for a mega-carrier. Honestly i probably WOULD like a smaller outfit if I find the right one. Swift is just the one that seamed to give me the best chance of getting my foot in the door so to speak. Actually a couple of the smaller companies i talked to before going with swift told me my best bet would be to get with Swift, CRST, or England and then work out their whole payoff period or otherwise No one would touch me if I left early.

Don't believe one company or one source. It looks like you're planning ahead but look at everything that meets your goals and just not pets. You'll have to do some trimming no doubt but think of your career and not just now. You'll want to invest in your retirement if you're smart so when it comes time to hang it up you'll be well set.

So would googling and finding recruitment flyers at truck stops be the best way to find the most companies and their reputation or is there some preffered website that just lists all the companies out there and maybe some reviews on them? I have found a couple of those but each ones seams to be missing a lot of the ones the others have listed. But then they all jut sound like recruitment ######## so who knows how much of what they are saying is legit or not.

I believe the computer is a tool and a great one at that. However, it should NOT be your only source of information. Get out and go see some companies. Talk with the people. I've seen drivers walk in right off the street and the company needed a driver right at that point. Use every technical and non-technical approach you can. That way when you do find a job that fits you better you'll know you gave it all and there wasn't some great job hiding out there that someone else grabbed.
