Things I've found on the road.....

I'm not nearly as crazy as most people think I am. Heck, my voices hardly ever talk to me anymore. In fact, 3 of them left just the other day..... something about them joining up with Swift. So if any of you Swiftys suddenly feel a "Presence" ( a sudden chill, a feeling like somebody's watching you, or a disembodied voice in your cab in the wee hours of the night) tell it I said Hey. Be careful of Alice tho.... keep sharp things locked up while you're sleeping; that sort of thing.

Dis ist Kurt mit ein message for all du out dere. Vant to talk crazies? Hah, look around at all der pitiful schwein scurrying about in dere pitiful little worthless lives. Frightened little childer dey are.... frightened dat soon dey will come face to face wit realization dat deir "Real Job" vill disappear and dey will be shown up as meaningless, wortless, snivelling scweinhunds dey are. Ach, I would like to take deir skinny necks in my hands and

Knock it off Kurt. Sorry folks, he gets this way from time to time. He's a sensitive sort. Loves to slip around dark truckstops.... screams in the night and all that. Just a BIG kid at heart.

So, yeah.... you can find yourself out here.... and sometimes something more too.:biggrin_2556: Right Kurt? Kurt? Oh hell, he's off amusing himself again. Hope he don't get blood on the door latch again.:biggrin_25523:

Y'all be careful out there y'hear.... Real Careful.:biggrin_25524:

I'm getting back into trucking because I have run out of employment options. I drove in the military when I was young and liked it even though it is not nearly the same as being an otr driver for a company. I don't have any illusions of "seeing the beauty of America" and experiencing the "freedom of the open road", not to say that it doesn't exist, but I'm fifty one years old, seen the world, and been around the block, etc., etc. I know this is a tough job and I respect those who do it and have done it for years on end. I honestly can't say what toll this will take on me and my family and I am very concerned about that, but I have to do what I have to do. I just hope that I can make it work for me and mine.

I started when I was 45. There definitely are "seeing America" and "freedom of the road" elements to trucking. But for the most part it is a job/profession (I'm not going to join the job vs. lifestyle debate :biggrin_2559:), a way of earning a living. And as Harvey Wallbanger (and others at TTR) often point out, not every trucking job keeps people away from their families. I hope it works out for you. BOL.
