Fine for dpf delete

NJ has roving teams with an Opacity meter measures how dense the smoke is.

They fined dozens of Macks with bad +/or eliminated 'puff eliminators' and you can see the difference.

Every year at renewal you have 90 days to have an emissions test and a sticker in the lower right windshield. Local cops have learned how lucrative this can be and might impound the truck...like $700.00 tow to impound and $700.00 a day 'hostage' fee...potential 4 digit fine too!

In my experience (pickup trucks only) the emissions truck failures, as already stated, result from long idle hours. The EGR and DPF need consistent flow or they will get clogged and that’s where the issues start. I met a guy last week with a 16 Ram, all stock, 189k miles no issues with the engine or emissions. But he also only had 160 hours of idle.

What used to make me money was guys that idled all night, every night, then brought me their rig with 30k miles and 500+ idle hours. It was customer pay also, not warranty. Which was fun to deal with.

 

Those emissions systems don't work when truck passes 500k.(when truck starting to burn oil)
Whatever you do ,and the amount of money you spend ,it won't make your truck work.
The only solution is to delete it or throw it in junk yard.
The decision is yours.

 

I have personally encountered these guys in NJ at the at Westbound scale house on 78. I was driving a Penske lease unit with all the crap on it so no concern of mine but they do in fact hook up the tailpipe sniffer and put a sticker on the windshield. NJ is another state to probably avoid with deleted equipment. They were racheting up the rhetoric on kicking the dirty trucks out of the ports and the whole state a few years ago I remember when I lived there.

 

Current 'un-grandfathered' must be 2010 engine year or newer to get into port truck pass and they deleted 96 and 97 last January. no announcement, yet, about when they will kill off a few more years. Grandfathered trucks can't stop working, 24 months with no activity and they loose their grandfather status.
