The real skinny about what ftcb is doing
    Encoders

Encoders used have either been Bourns PEC11 series or TT Electronics EN11 series.
An encoder from ALPS is being developed. This encoder has deeper detents.

I am aware of several rather odd implementations of the channel selector.
Using the channel selector is not hard and it can certainly be done without odd jumps or positions that do not register.
If there are eough requests for this I can certainly implement an interface for the selector and button so there is an option.
You really only need 3 bits from the selector to make it work. The push button switch is another issue altogether.
    Update Dec 2018.

I did two videos on the Stryker SR-955 and discussed their dodgy encoders (which are really pulse switches).
The problem with these radios is not the encoder but rather the time spent by the MCU processing update packets and responding to user inputs.
The MCU responds to interrupts from it's UART before it will process any input. If you happened to turn the knob while it was getting one of these packets
(which are voluminous!) then it will miss. This is due to a poor software implementation and extremely bloated and slow comms protocol from the main to sub MCU.

Many of you have made enquiries about dealing with this problem.
Many of you have asked me about the ALPS SRBM1L0800 switches that appear to be the same footprint as the original LJV control.
And even more have asked me about the dodgy ALPS fakes sold on ebay and aliexpress by various sellers.
The easy way to spot the fakes is because the dodgy Chinese counterfeits are missing the front two pins.
The second is to note that the fake control has a domed body, not a flat one.
    See illustration here:

I want to point out that these do work, they are just mediocre quality. If you have nothing else and you need a new control then use them.
I obtained some of these controls and sent pictures to ALPS and they responded and confirmed that these are fakes.
The real controls cost nearly 20 USD a piece and in quantity around 15 USD.
There are a couple of suppliers in the the states and one in Europe that stocks these controls as of this writing. They are exceedingly uncommon.

Use these dodgy e bay and ali express controls at your own risk, This picker was taken as a screen shot from marks video at FTCB

Mark did not not know he bought fake encoders so he is trying to push fake encoders with a 25 cent rubber knob for 100 bucks. Professional con men all of them Not to mention professional trolls attacking others . Childish behavior pure bull:::::

The Anytone and Lincoln II use a real quadrature encoder, not a pulse switch. It is a lot less prone to these sorts of issues.

He doesn't pay anybody to do anything.
If I see wild generalizations I generally point them out for free.

Welcome to the forum Mr. Rutherford #74. Speaking of childish behavior, changing your screen name every couple weeks is a very good way of demonstrating a lack of credibility. Why not just stick with a single screen name for the long term?

Is there a way to see on a a graph what signal pattern an antenna is radiating?
That would be awesome but sounds expensive.

I'm also wanting a base CB antenna and looked up the one you mentioned that Finetune uses.
    That thing is gynormous!

I'll build a cheap jpole and drag it up a tree for now but that is one nice antenna for 149 bucks. The 5000 watt one is 183.00

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.
