Smoking Joe will get back to you usually within a day with prices.
Id get a Galaxy959B. It comes with Echo, talkback and Single Side Band.
Factory set to 12watts on am can get a max of 30 watts.
Get that converted and aligned, tune the SWR on a good antenna and let it ride.
Setting SWR makes more difference than I thought. I didn't know until I bought my own SWR meter.
My ownboard Stryker 955 SWR meter was quite a ways from being perfect. I want to say I had to move the screw 2.5 rounds longer on my 2 ft firestick after getting an actual SWR meter.

Even if you follow the yellow brick road to fine tune cb shop you will find the "great wizard" is all smoke and mirrors.. might as well click your heels three times and find a real cb shop to set up your radio.
More importantly is your antenna, as was mentioned in an early post.Last edited: Sep 9, 2019

Just because they're nice on the phone doesn't mean they're going to get my money.Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
I'm sure there's shops out there like that but they won't be in business long if the majority of their customers are not happy.
I believe Smokin Joe is likely one of the better guys out there after watching many of his videos. He don't seem to be one to just to crank things wide open and send it out the door. The 1st video I posted shows that. I was fixing to order from him after watching many of his videos but found a loader operator at the rock quarry with a Stryker 955 for sale already converted.
If you want that big radio sound you need echo, talk back and some power so folks can hear you.
The best way to get that without hack and jacking your radio is to buy an Export radio and convert it from 10 Meter to 11 Meter since they all come with those features.
I could have converted my Stryker 955 but it was already done.
I have that big radio sound in my Stryker 955 and folks rave about how it sounds on the air. Many folks do not want to pay that much for a CB. I take it out of the truck every evening.
Its pushing 70 Watts stock. You can find them already converted on Ebay for 350 to 400 bucks.
The reason I recommend the Galaxy 959B is because they sound good and my friend gets out 5 miles on his Galaxy 99 (discontinued model) with his squelch quite. I have to have my squelch noisy to receive more than 1/8 of a mile.
Another buddy dump trucker had a Connex 3300HP. I heard him talking 5 miles away while getting loaded at the asphalt plant with a 4ft fiberglass antenna.
I could not talk back to him with the Cobra 25 I had at the time from that distance.
Maybe I could get out 3/4 of a mile maybe.
I was gonna buy his radio but he backed out. They sound awesome! Watch the video on this link. Also bellscb.com has the very best website for window shopping CB stuff that I have seen. At least I haven't found one better.

One clue is when he takes a measurement but has to guess what the measurement is because he doesn't understand how to read the measurement he's taking.
That should be a big red flag to anyone with common sense or an IQ over 80.

My radio needs are simple:
1. My radio shouldn't be able to be heard on any channel other than the one I'm actually transmitting on
2. Clear sounding speech reproduction
3. The ability to hear a good 10 miles at least, with squelch open and RF gain all the way up.craig_sez and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -

I didn't realize echo was necessary to be heard. That's the 1st time I've ever heard someone say that.[/QUOTE]
It just sounds better when set correctly but not a necessity. Actually most people overuse it to the point that it actually hinders.slim6596 Thanks this. -
I'd like to see the components of that setup.
