Antennas shorter than 4 ft tall won’t get out very far as a rule. The longer the antenna the better. Although short 2 ft antennas are more durable and won’t get broken off by trees like 4 ft antennas. It’s good that you got an external swr meter, it’s very important that you match the antenna system to the radio.

I see. Totally unnecessary if you ask me, especially on a brand new radio. Who knows what that mod is going to cost. I’m sure people will pay him for it.

Sorry but there's are a lot of wrong info in that link and an assumption dual antennas are better.

I prefer the Appalachian encoder followed by a Blue Ridge encoder second.

I use single antenna's myself but near as I can tell from what I've read, dual antennas tuned correctly have a more narrow longer operating field than a single antenna does. I just threw that out there in case there are some die hard dual antenna fans in here. I don't personally know being a single antenna guy.

Yea I was reading that it takes double the power for a 2ft antenna to do what a 4ft antenna can do.

    WTH...a knob?

Praising the knob and what a knob can do.

Showing a whole packet of the KNOBS and declaring you can only get one if you buy the whole radio.

I must say, it sounds like a con man directing your attention to the spangle he's twirling around from one hand while picking your pocket with the other.

LOL, ya really. I took a look at the peoples comments under the video and I was amazed that they thought this was a fantastic idea, and couldn’t wait to get a radio done like this by him. I don’t get it, it’s just an ugly black rubber knob, and a new encoder.

I think he could take an old 1977 Ford fiesta, and sell it to Shaquille O’Neal for four times the money that the car cost 42 years ago.
