I am heading to TN now. I start on the 13th. I am a little nervous but I am excited. It took my recruiter about a month to get me a spot for training but she did. What time where did you usually start and finish during the week toast? Also when did they set up your orientation?
Thanks for your post, it has been a great help to me.
Finshed swift training, passed skills test

You also road test that day, they want double clutching, no floating. We were not required to back the truck. I believe one guy flunked it in our group of about 30+ people.
A security guy will talk about security, theft and you will be required to purchase a $80 lockset when you get your own truck. He also urges you to be forthright about your background because if they find something on you when you are on the road, you may find yourself stranded in Gary IN (yuck!) with no way home. If you make it to the second day, you are in with Swift.
The second day is more paperwork with logbook training, a bit of Qualcomm. Your temp DM will come and show you the kiosk and a guy that runs the simulator will talk to you. I went home at nights, but there was a paid-for hotel available for those that wanted it.
It was kinda long, but not too bad... -
as far as 'get to thet 2nd day and you are in'...that isnt totally accurate. At anytime they find something, during your backround, anything...until you get a driver code (third day) and get issued your fuel card, you aren't "in". You're not an employee till you get a driver code, and until you get a code, anything they can find to cut you lose and put you on the hook for $3900 for their school (if thats the route you took)....they'll do it. -
Actually you are right, I forgot that I waited for the code until the following week pending drug test results and background check, my bad..
They told everyone in orientation that you had to buy the lock with weekly payroll deductions of $10. Everyone I met had to do that...Last edited: Apr 13, 2009
