Even if a national law was passed saying that truckers could legally carry regardless of state law almost every company would still have rules against it. Many customers ban them so therefore the carriers will not allow them. But all this concern over who can carry and whatnot is kinda pointless. 10 years on the road and I have never had my truck searched, I don't know anyone who has. I've only seen maybe a handful of trucks being searched on the road and all of those had a Mexican flavor to them. If you want to carry, do it. Your chances of being caught are ridiculously small.

But waiting for some kind of law to that allows us to carry in spite of state/federal law and company policy is a pipe dream.

Before you go buying hornet spray, read the label. Particularly, the part where it says that use of the product for anything other than its intended purpose is a crime. Read the label on an OC (pepper spray) dispenser. It says the same thing. The difference? OC is meant as a self defense tool. The capsacin will cause an attacker to involuntarily close their eyes, it will impact their respiratory system. Wasp sprays may claim a greater range, but they dissipate a lot at the ranges they claim. You want a spray, OC is the best way to go. Not to mention it travels more readily and discreetly than a can of wasp spray or carb cleaner.
On the firearms topic, I'm very pro-2A and pro-CC, but, at the same time, I've seen a number of CC holders who wouldn't have the first idea of what to do in a shootout. If you're too squeamish to fight your way out of a paper bag, strapping on a piece isn't going to turn you into John Wayne, and I'm a bit annoyed with seeing those who think it will.
No weapon will save you if you get complacent, have poor situational awareness, and allow yourself to get caught off-guard. No weapon can substitute for common sense and good judgment. Period. End of story. I want there to be legal CC holders, but I want them to be people who know what the #### they're doing. If you don't, packing heat is going to be as useless as tits on a bull.

State laws differ as to who can own or carry a firearm. While there is no prohibition against truckers carrying a weapon, some carriers do have a company policy prohibiting anyone from having a gun in their truck. If you decide to carry a weapon in your truck it would be best to keep it to yourself.

Best to keep having a firearm a secret! Hide it well, gun and magazine seperately.

if asked to be searched...remember the correct answer “Actually sir, I am not consenting to a search at this time, I need to consult a lawyer first”

Your CCW should be valid in all 50 states. I think it was Donald Trump who has stated that if he is elected that he will push for anyone with a valid CCW should be recognized in all 50 states. It is long over due. Trying to comply with laws in 50 different states can be difficult for those in this industry. It just makes sense for all states to have reciprocity with CCW in other states, just like with a CDL. I think that all states who issue permits require a criminal background check.

Or forget the CCW, it's tangled web of regulations, who accepts your state and just open carry where legal.
