Carried a firearm with me my entire trucking career , never once was checked/or asked about one....it's really a personal choice if you ask me , I always go to the thought that I have a God given right to protect my self....I also reserve the right to the choice of the method to do that....

I used to open carry a crossbow and a bowie knife when I lived in West Oakland California. I was one of the first white guys to move into the ghetto of West Oakland after the bridge collapsed in 1989 and I didn't seem to have any problems.
catalinaflyer Thanks this. -
My CCW works nearly every place on that open-carry map. With a bit more red in the northeast and a bit less to points south... I had no idea open-carry was permissible in that many places.
-
Nor did I. Had no idea OH was an open carry state. Gonna have to research the governing laws in that one.
-
Where did you find that map?
I can tell you in no incertain terms that MD is most definitely NOT an open carry friendly state.
It's legal to carry a longarm openly in most places here, but nobody does it because it's generally regarded as provocative. Just because it's legal, doesn't mean you should.
I would advise checking the state police websites for the states in which one will be travelling. -
They may be open carry states but most states require you have a pistol permit to open carry and to get that permit in that state you must be a resident of that state , I'm from missouri we no longer require pistol permits to open carry but I cannot cross into Iowa with my pistol because I don't have an Iowa pistol permit and can't get one because I'm not a resident
-
MD requires a permit to open carry. There are no restrictions in 30 states, some form of restriction be it a license or restricted to rural areas etc. in 14 states and finally no open carry allowed at all in 6 states and DC.
-
Iowa doesn't have reciprocity with Missouri?
I have CCP's from Utah and Florida, and they're good in about 37 states total. -
I believe they do for the CCW but since missouri doesn't require a permit to purchase a pistol and Iowa does in order to open carry in Iowa you need that pistol permit , we can't even sell pistols to Iowa residents without shipping them to a ffl holder to go through the permit process
-
He'll you can buy guns all day long in missouri legally without a back ground check the only ppl in missouri required to do a background check before selling a gun is ffl holders wich is why I buy my guns at auctions or from private individuals no back ground check no gun registration and all perfectly legal for my state anyway
