I have talked to alot of drivers who have been with the company for several years and every single one of them is not happy. Many other long timers have left. In the past, these drivers were making big miles and big paychecks, they didn't have this rediculous per diem pay, and they didn't have these short runs. Just recently I had 3 preplans pop up on the Q.C. The first one was 125 miles, second one was 110 miles, third one was 106 miles picking up at the rail yard. Im O.T.R. but they run me as regional or local.

As drivers gripe about not getting home,

the runs keep getting shorter !!!!

Jtorrey87, Don't worry about these yahoos, they complain about the mote in other's eyes but ignore the beam in their own. (In case the yahoos are wondering it is from the bible). They will pick on your spelling and grammar all the while ignoring their own glaring mistakes. They specialize in misunderstanding (on purpose) what other people post in order to make themselves look better. But wait, it may not be on purpose. Then it is ignorance.

I think this guy is a regular poster here but has changed his name because of all the BS he spouted. Anyway, anyone that is able to work but chooses to take my taxes instead to stay at home has no credibility.

You are so correct. IT USED TO BE THE BEST.
Been so long since i have seen a load withmore than 1200 miles, then get stuck in a region, doing thier rail / regional work.
Have 10 days off during Xmas, time to make phone calls.

The OP said he remembered it like it was yesterday.

He didn't say it happened yesterday.

Most OTR companies are going to 'regional' operations, even if you didn't sign up for a regional fleet. So when you get into an area you will get short hauls for a while unless you luck out and get a load to another region and then it starts over again. This is not advertised, obviously, but speaking with other drivers it appears to be going this way. Most dispatchers work a regional board, they don't care as long as the load is moving. Marten, Crete, are doing it this way.

marten is not a bad company, they are just one of the good one,I I worked for the for 2 and 1/2 years and they treat me like I'm a master of my own , I tell them when I have my time off and where I wanna be and I get want ever d . one day I told my dispatch that I have to be in Chicago on Friday and I was sitting on in Atlanta Terminal until Thursday night, and then quess what? happen, next, they make travel to IA BOBTAIL and get a load from IA and go to CHI-town and drop the load and they pay me for all the miles and I made me and I made my app time . some people talking bad about marten but I thing marten is the best company out there? I made so much money out of them by working hard for them if you know the system how Marten works , then you be okay. if you got fired by them then you most understand that you made a big mistake, marten use to pays for having my idle low every 3 month plus they pay me for fuel save, I used to get my home request every time I want and they never send me home late, I quit working for them just for being tire of driving over the road. I heard too many people talking bad things about marten, my advice to them if you stay with them for a while understand their system how works then you will be okay.

From what I've seen and encountered from Marten drivers and other similar bottom feeder outfits, you need to have at least 8 of the following 10 qualifications:

(It is unfair to totally single out Marten here, so really this list applies to all Bottom feeder Scum companies)

    1. Enjoy showering less than 2 times per week

    2. Have a BMI of at least 40

    3. Drag race with Werner, Covenant, Swift, US Express, FFE ETC in the left lane on the interstate, simply because they can only go 65 but your truck can do 65.0276544 with new drive tires.

    4. Enjoy blocking fuel pumps so you can go shopping, order fast food or spend half an hour or more trying to loosen up your constipation. But hey, you aren't under a load, so who cares if the guy behind you at the fuel pump has a deadline.

    5. Go 10 MPH or more over the limit in construction zones and fly through parking lots and shipper/receivers lots, in a vain attempt to compensate for the Turtle highway top speed your trucks are set at.

    6. Frequently dump urine bottles and bags of fecal matter in the parking lot because you are too lazy to waddle your tubby 40+ BMI behind to a toilet like a civilized human.

    7. get brainwashed into thinking 1500 miles is normal per week and 2000 miles is a good week.

    8. get brainwashed into believing your dispatcher when he tells you he can't get you home.

    9. Enjoy running down the road with jalopy equipment with numerous critical safety violations.

    10. Enjoy being lied to, cheated and stepped on, and believe that all trucking companies are like this.

Well Son, If you fit the bill, head on over to Modovi, WI (Or Phoenix, AZ; Minneapolis, MN; or whatever big city your bottom scum comapny may be located in, and sign your life away!
