If you read the first line in the post you should see where he wrote " I remember like yesterday" not that it was yesterday.

Pardon my ignorance ( I yank tanks ) but ah what on earth does the fuel level in your reefer have to do with a customer, getting rejected and subsequently fired?

From my short stint with refrigerated...... all I had to do was be at zero in the box when he probed the peek a boo just prior to loading.

It's industry standard that customers require incoming reefers to have 3/4 tank of reefer fuel. No telling how long that trailer might be on the lot. Cold warehouses aren't that strict. But places like slaughter houses it can be critical and it's required. Tyson will turn you around in a heart beat.

I got turned around once, tank at 3/4. Guard house was on a slope sidewards and tank read 5/8. Still got turned around. I always top my tank off since that incident.

This reminds me of that guy on YouTube who worked for Marten and got fired after posting videos making fun of other truck drivers and while driving into the caves for a pick up. Someone notified Marten's safety department. They had a look. Decided they didn't want him working for them any more.

    Great post..

I also drove for Marten back a few years ago.I had put in an application with them 2 years before that and forgot about it.When they called me,I thought,'right on,I'm set now.No more dirtbag carriers.'' That waqs back when driving for ''Blue Bird'' meant you were with a good company..

For a year or so that was correct.Life was good.Great equipment,#### good miles.I'm talking I-5 to Hunts Point.Regularly.Never a problem to get my AT THE TIME baseline 2,700-3200 miles a week..My average length of haul used to be in the neighborhood of 1,200 miles..

Then, little by little, things changed. The trips were shorter, the layovers more frequent and longer. The dispatch team I worked well with was replaced by people seemingly unfamiliar with the realities of trucking or simply didn't care.Believe me,it showed.

The change was gradual, but noticable.Instead of chatting with your fleet manager, you waited on hold only to get some pissed off person demanding to know your ''driver number.''

The tone of fleet messages on the Qualcomm was noticable as well. They took on a more hostile, take it or we'll fire you tone.

When you'd call in to ask to speak with your latest dispatcher to ask about why you only got 1,200-1,700 miles for the last several weeks, you'd be dismissed and treated as though you pissed on the sofa..

Then, one day, you figure it out. You've sat for 3 days at the Alamo in Reno waiting on a load.Turns out,it's only going to Salt Lake 500 miles away.---While driving across the barren, endless wasteland of Nevada on I-80,you see something that makes it all make sense..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbbvgPh5Vc8

Now,after seeing this endless freight train full of semi trailers, with Marten well represented among them, you figure out, they aren't in the OTR business anymore. They put the cross country trips on rail .They still advertise and pretend they are OTR,but,AT BEST,they are now a regional carrier, full of drivers who average 4-maybe 500 miles a trip.Often times they wait days between the opportunity to be treated like #### by Martens new customers..

The old ''hometime guarentee'' went to the curb as well too. Now,drivers were expected to be ''flexible''..So what if you had a Doctors appointment, graduation, wedding ,etc. ''.No Driver,####,and wait for your next dirtbag load and quit hassling us.''

When I left, they were making noise about 'per diem.'..That was enough for me.Last I heard, they inflicted this scam on all drivers.Made it mandatory to screw you out of a decent tax return so that the millonaires who now run Marten can earn greater profits. If that wasn't enough, then they teabag you,and actually charge you a cent or two a mile, for administrative fees'' associated with them taking more of your money so that you can declare less gross earnings per year. That works wonders when applying for a loan. How do we say,DECLINED?

The long and short of it is,that MARTEN is now a dirtbag, bottom feeder outfit.Don't bother with them if you have more than 6 months experience.

I just posted today after quitting Marten. Reason why? They will not get me home when requested. They bring me in when they feel like it. I have not been able to have visitation with my children but twice in the five months I work for Marten due to this issue. I also have nothing good to say about Marten. Avoid like the plague.
