Yeah but if you GOAL and walk back 53' with a tanker trailer you're going to walk into the trailer next to you. How do you explain that one to Safety?

From the first day of training all I ever heard was how companies were just looking for excuses to fire drivers. At my first real company (not my first mistake) I had a couple of problems and told my dispatcher/manager what I had always been told. His reply to me was, "Why would I want to get rid of drivers? I have loads that need to be delivered and without drivers the loads don't get delivered." Companies need drivers and know that drivers, especially new drivers will have problems and make mistakes. It is also human nature to minimize our mistakes (ever hear of a white lie?) So not just in this case, but whenever a driver says he was released over a single small accident, I wonder what I'm not hearing.

I'm far from perfect, yet never been fired from a trucking company. I even backed into a parked car. There were some mitigating issues, but still I did it. In the end I quit for other reasons and had no problem getting another job. So what are we not being told?
