My first U-turn was in a spread axle without dump valve at about 78k, in the gorge. I was one of the first vehicles to come to a detour to an offramp as the crew laid out the cones. Well they started at the wrong end and once down the ramp there was no further instruction, just an intersection. The car infront of me seemed like a local and i followed.. Out into a cliffhanger billygoat road that barely fit a truck trying to go straight much less helicopter around. That forward spread axle was unhappy.

I get to make a uturn about once every other week same place. It's a 2 lane in a warehouse area not much traffic other than trucks but it's a dead end street. So yeah sometimes you have to do what you have to do

Man, this is NOT a good week for the 40 and the 44. Just yesterday I got caught behind a car fire, a wreck of some kind that was already cleaned up by the time I inched by, and a jackknife where the guy subsequently managed to do a complete 180 and absolutely mangle the ### end of his trailer on the steel cable barrier... yeah, MoDOT's gonna have fun with that one

So, I just pulled three U-turns today, in fairness: Detroit, construction zones, by the border, which is also by a truck hating residential district. My company doesn't have that policy though.

Edit: actually 4, but 2 of them I was supposed to do.

Here is perfect help. Pay attention and trip plan.
Had you done that you would never have had to do a Uturn.
Hitting 3 things while backing isn’t because you’re new, it’s because you didn’t bother to open your door, exit the truck, and look.
    That’s just laziness

How can you avoid a upturn? There is a walmart I deliver to, only way to get out its either drive on their precious grass, drive around 20 blocks, drive on 5 ton road, or make a uturn. Maybe they should teach them better how to make a proper legal uturn

Just to reiterate, those of us who are ripping into OP for pulling that U-turn are NOT referring to situations where a driver has NO other choice but to flip a #####. However, said situations are EXTREMELY few and far between
