I get what your saying and might site is different cause of the configuration.
When I was otr, I never asked anyone to disconnect to get out of a spot. You're right it isn't needed, but I'd rather someone ask me to disconnect then have them hit my truck.

"Fired from Swift... No one will hire me..."
Is it just me, or does this have the makings of a sad country song?

Congratulations man! Way to land on your feet! You gotta pretty good gig with System Transport in my view. The good thing about flatbed is that you'll be forced to pay more attention to detail, because load securement requires it. Running flatbed will be good for you, and you'll make good money.Albertaflatbed, MSWS and Chinatown Thank this.

Swift is a horrible company. I actually drove for them 2.5 years around 2007, and left in good reference. I did other work for a decade, then went to drive for them again. I could not figure out how to get my pre-trips to register on their electronic device and nobody had time to train me, so I racked up a bunch of "points" as a "dangerous driver". I was entering the pre-trips, but for some reason they weren't sticking sometimes. So when I got a couple legitimate incidents (how dare I go 70 in a 70 downhill when the truck was governed to 63!) that made me so close to the termination threshold that I quit.
Swift didn't seem to think I was so dangerous, though. I put in a 2 week notice and they worked me every day of that 2 weeks following my approaching my point limit. On the last day I drove to the terminal (that they could have easily parked me at 14 days earlier if I was so dangerous) and left my truck in fine condition.
I could not figure out what my reason for leaving was. Fired? Quit? Turns out both—depending on who you talked to. They said to unemployment that I voluntarily quit, probably so I could not get unemployment benefits. Then they told the next trucking company I applied to that I was fired for safety issues, so I could not get a job either. Like they were trying to kill me through poverty or something. I can't competently drive a truck, but then also at the same time, the reason I'm not driving is because I choose not to without prejudice—both at the same time. Actually, the second time I drove for them I didn't even come near to an accident, let alone have one. Not even a near near-miss. Never any citations.
Oddly, my DAC with Swift for the previous spell of driving a decade earlier suddenly got amended from "would rehire" to me leaving under bad terms. Strange that they "figured this out" after having it posted as me being a good driver for a whole decade.
I've been out of trucking for five years now. I work in law enforcement as a CO. Nobody on my current job ever questions my integrity and even though I have cameras on my self constantly, they aren't meant as "gotcha" devices. People explain answers to device questions I have so I can do the job right.
