Wallmarts, lmao. When I leave town, it is 506 miles, there is one place open at the river, and they claim they will stay open this winter, which is 125 miles, another place at coldfoot, which is 258 miles, nothing for the next 250. lol. no 7-11's, much less wallmarts. lol

Well does it pay good? Sounds like you have to soldier that out. I kind of like that style of trucking. If pay was right Id do it. I like being out in the wilderness like that alone away from everyone. That's why I run at night or early morning a lot. I
Usually first out of the truckstop 3am88228822 and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
Yea, it pays good, it is always night in the winter too. lol
truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
I had a 600 hp pos freightliner too. It would scream up to about 95 mph and I’d run out of gears.
I loved that death trap.
You have different experiences than me. I used to work for this South African rancher and I loved it. I got nothing bad to say about him either great dude. Now I work for another small family company under 40 employees, awesome guys.
my corporate jobs sucked. Not all mom n pop places are bad. I’ve had good luck.truckdriver31 and starmac Thank this. -
Hell I was a mom and pop place for several years and a great plaqce to work, if you don't believe me, just ask me. lol
I have always done better working for smallish outfits, myself.truckdriver31 and Fold_Moiler Thank this. -
Both the freightliner and the 99 international screamed and also most uncomfortable loud shaking bumpy trucks I ever drove. My truck now feels like a ####in Mercedes Benz all quiet and can't even feel a bump in the road especially when going downhill and hitting transitions it doesn't even thump like the old Trucks even just a few years ago. It's crazy how much trucks have changed. I don't miss having transmissions blowing out on me and shaky vibrating grinding gears and worn out bushings. Those trucks go through transmissions like the weather. Freightshaker

Me too, my boss takes us out to dinner a lot, throws us parties. Knows our whole families. Invites our kids and parents to the parties, gets our kids presents etc etc. I could go on and on about all the nice stuff he does. We are basically family since we spend 50-70 hours a week together and that’s the environment he makes. You need any day off because of family it’s yours. No questions asked, you gotta go early because your kid is sick at school? No problem.
I could make more elsewhere but It’s not worth it to me.truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
Yeah I know they aren't all bad but there are quite a few that will burn drivers. I definitely see the good side of it I have. But I've been paid ####ty wages before by mom and pop and high wages. One couldn't pay me and the other wasn't enough money. There is its own issues at mom amd pop places for sure.truckdriver31 and Fold_Moiler Thank this.

Honestly what I've learned and feel is that trucking is all about being somewhere that you're comfortable and happy. That's the most important. What works for you is the best that may not be for someone else and that's the good thing about trucking is having options always available. I've worked at old Dominion freight line and sysco food and #### like that wasn't for me and not enough money to be a ####ing worker drone ant. $50 a hour isnt good enough to be a p&d driver. A slave on a clock every day. Naa that job sucks but some guys love that ####.

I don’t have the suspension on my mvr I only have it on my DACtruckdriver31 Thanks this.
