Fireproof pants

    No offense, but that seems like a ridiculous false economy. Dupont says no laundry procedures are known to compromise flame resistance of nomex, but at the same time they clearly state thermal protection can be compromised.

    We all have to decide what our own skin is worth to us. After a very unfortunate incident with a hot oiler I know for a fact surviving a flash fire can sometimes be worse than dying in a flash fire. For me, my last line of defense is going to be new so I know it has always been properly cared for.

    Flammable contaminants...the risk is most likely minimal, but I don't want to take any chances if I don't have to.

    I think of it like this. If I get caught in a 3-4 second flash and something in/on my fr clothing burns for another 2-3 seconds that could be the difference between going home in pain or going to the burn unit.

    I know three seconds doesn't sound like very long but it can be a very long time if you're burning. If you have a gas stove light a burner and hold your hand in the flame for three seconds.
