Hi, my names Sam. I'm 19 years old, and I've had my cdl and been driving for 6 months now. I did not go to cdl school to get my cdl. I was trained by my dad. I've got my tanker endorsement, and my doulbes/triples. I've always wanted to get into driving, and now i plan to do it until I can't drive anymore.
Here's the story:
I've been driving for a local scrap company for the past 6 months. I mostly drive a Tractor-Trailer, but we have a couple rolloff truck loads sometimes. Anywase, i was at a customers yard when i went to turn the truck around in the grass so i could back up and pick up the container. We always turn around in the same spot but i guess it was a little more wet this time around. I ended up getting the truck stuck. Long story short, I called the other driver, who brought our other rolloff truck to try to get me out. The weight thats at the end of the cable on the truck is about 25 lb and rectangle in shape. We hooked a chain around it and hooked the other end around the bumper of the other truck. After pulling for a couple seconds, the chain snapped, sending the weight straight through the back glass hitting me in the side of the head. Knocked me out cold and fractured my skull right at my temporal lobe. As of now its basically all healed up, i just have short term memory loss that could last a couple months. Should have been alot worse considering how heavy that weight is. Im very lucky, and im just now starting to realize it.
