I'm new to the trucking industry. I got my cdl's in October. Started working with a company at the end of October and finish trying shortly after Thanksgiving. Had my first accident Dec. 1 went around a company building to sharp and barely touched the side of the building with my trailer. The officer the was called out said he could see no damage and didn't give me any ticket. How hard will this accident make it for me to leave the company and find another trucking job?

This depends alot on the company. Is it a national carrier with a mega fleet or a family type carrier with a few trucks? Mega carriers will usually be forgiving. The policy at CR England was one every 6 months was considered tolerable, yet to report it as soon as it happened (this was their policy in 2007, unknown what it is now). I cant speculate on a small fleet. Yet you said the officer didnt bother to write you up. Since there was no damage you shouldnt have to worry. Contact safety department if you must. They will route you to a garage and check their equipment. If there is no damage then it is only the feeling of guilt that you have to endure.

Knowing your company they'll make it sound worse then what really happened. How big of a scratch or dent on the trailer?Has safety talk to you?

Either way, no problem finding another job.TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this.

No dent on the trailer. About a 3 to 4 inch scratch on the decal sticker on the trailer. Safety really hasn't said anything to me.
