I am a company driver..Our trucks are either Freightliners or International Prostars averaging 23 months old...I believe they all come with antennas already...I'm thinking I'd like a CB that goes maybe like 10 miles or so to help with snowstorm accidents and stuff like that...

Question..Can i pick something up at one of the truckstops ? Or am I better off hitting up a CB place somewhere ?
    Thanks, BT

That’s kind of a personal choice you will have to make. It depends on what type of radio you want, and how many dollars you want to spend on it. A few years ago, a cobra 29 was on sale for $75 at the loves truckstop in St. Joseph Missouri. It was a very good price, but I had to pass it up since I had a couple of Cobra 29 radios already. The biggest problem you will have is the antenna system on that truck. There’s a lot of good information on how to resolve antenna problems with these new trucks, if you search the forum.

Here is a suggestion - any one that works. Garage sales are a good place for a $5 radio. I just saw a few at an estate sale the other day, $15 with a good mic.

If you're looking for 10 miles you need to focus on your antenna system and do some research. My walkie-talkie will talk 10 miles if I connect it to a decent antenna system

Once you have mastered your antenna system, Pilot/ Flying J have the Bearcat 980 on sale for $129.99 ( retail $ 179.99 ) until 5/02/19. I have owned one for a couples of years now and really like it. Features include different faceplate colors, radio diagnostic check ( voltage,rf power, antenna) Noaa weather channels, stock noise canceling mic, to name a few. The radio works good stock out of the box, good transmit( legal 4 watts) and excellent receive, I highly recommend it.

A couple of months ago I bought a 29 on sale at Loves in Jasper Fl for $99.99 and 2 days later a Loves in Iowa had it on sale for $89.99 and I asked Mgr about price difference and he said $89.99 was corporate price, so using the 30 day exchange policy I returned the other one and bought a new one for $10.00 cheaper.
