While I respect your right to your opinion, Knowing what I know about you and your trolling ways from previous encounters, I deem you to be argumentative and unworthy of employment by me so if the above requirement got you to run away, I guess my method works as intended. I only wish it were as easy on this message board

There is no law that I am aware of that says drug test is a business expense any more than a driver abstract is a business expense or for that matter the cost of the CDL itself. As I said, I have no trouble paying for successful tests for employees, but I do not pay for failed drug tests or for other people’s employees drug tests. Any applicant will provide, at their expense, driver abstracts, police background check and drug test to be reimbursed later. If a driver has a problem with that, then he best look elsewhere

As an unemployed driver seeking work, I have been unable to show up for hire process due to not being able to afford going 200 miles in the family car, that is not fit to drive that far in one instance. And I just did not bother calling as I stated I was broke as a joke in my previous conversation.

Than a different carrier 230 miles from me wanted me to show up on May 4th than come back to start on May 20th when the HR guy was back from vacation. I told him I was not going to be able to show up on the 4th of May because I simply could not afford to drive that twice. And I never called on the day I was to show up.

Someone here is a troll anyway, and it's not me. Might want to look in the mirror for one.

Dismissing an argument because you are so deathly afraid of being wrong is just sad.

Putting your insulting aside, while there is no legal requiremens I know of for the company to pay, well there is no legal requirement for them to pay for fuel either. Still there are certain expenses as an employee I'll refuse to pay, and hiring expenses are one.

You might want to call OOIDA , or your state Labor board .
I was told by both as an employee that I could be charged for a drug screen even though I did not start working for said employer.

Like I said, no law I know of requires the employer to pay for it. I'm not saying it's a legal requirement.

But I gave reasons why I would not work for said company.

"If the company is unwilling to spend the money required then they don't need to be hiring a driver."

I once worked the largest company in the world. Employees were required to put company travel expenses on their personal credit card then file an expense report for reimbursement. Based on previous logic, I guess the largest company in the world had no business having employees.

Myself I think it's better for employers to pay for such things.

The problem with all of that is let's say that a driver pays for his drug test and he pays to have his mvr pays to have whatever else he needs to go to work. Now the employer decides instead of giving you a full-time job he's going to work you one or two days a week. Or he decides you're going to get different runs and maybe something Shady with your pay that you didn't anticipate. Or they want you to run over hours or be on call or run unsafe equipment... There are all kind of scenarios like that with lousy employers.

Now the employee who has significantly less money than the employer has to go back out and look for another job, which if he has to pay all those expenses again, that's not sounding right.

When I was looking for jobs I had so many employers they wouldn't even get on the phone with me wouldn't even talk to me unless they had Stacks and stacks of paperwork filled out and signatures and etcetera etcetera and all that stuff is way too much for somebody just looking for a job without even anybody talking to them about it.

I went to one place where nobody would meet me nobody would interview me and they just gave me Stacks and stacks of paperwork to fill out. And as I look through there they said that I was on probation for I think 90 days and if for any reason whatsoever they terminated me I had to pay for my drug test. No way! I ran out of there as fast as I could. Too many reasons for that to go bad.

There are some things that are just part of business overhead that having a business and running a business is part of. And taking care of whatever documentation your employees need to begin working for you is part of that.

There are just as many cheap Shady unreliable employers as there are workers. I agree with the other person that it makes you wonder what else you're going to have to pay for or how else they are going to try to cheat you.
