The problem with bigger companies is that they place people in higher offices that have no experience driving a truck. I'm sorry, but I hold a stong opinion that is you have never driven a truck before, you don't need to be working for a safety department. Safety departments need to be driver friendly, not company friendly.RickG, AfterShock and midnight_trucker_1971 Thank this. -
1) in his division he was not allowed to deviate off this toll roads, they are forcing him to take un approved tolls
2) it HAPPENED. 25 hours, DM REFUSED to speak to him, since 2007 CRE detention pay policy is to pay regardless if the customer pays, took 3 weeks to get a very low pay for that.
3) Again, it happened, Payroll corrected it, but YES, they LOWERED HIS PAY ON MILES, I CAN SHOW YOU THE SCANED COPY OF HIS PAY STUB BUT YOU CLEARLY WORK FOR THEM AND AS I WOULD NEVER SHARE HIS INFO YOU COULD FIGURE OUT WHO HE IS
4) He is a COMPANY DRIVER
5) WHO OWNS 20% OF HORIZON???? CRE!!!!
6) Do better damage control for your company than this. This ALL HAPPENED -
2) As much as I'd hate to say it, that no ones fault but his. Personally, I would have either left the customer or I would have ordered a pizza. Find another driver that's been there a while and they might split the cost of a pizza with you. I have actually done this a few times.
3) I need to see a pay settlement. I'm not a tattle tale so I wouldn't bother wasting my time trying to figure out things that don't even pertain to me. Certain things can shave off CPM pay though. Accidents, claims, etc.
4) I am also a company driver. To correlate with #1, I deviate from the qualcomm planning all of the time. The company doesn't give a flying hoot. If you need to fuel off route, send a mac 51 or a mac 20 to the fuel desk to remain compliant.Last edited: Nov 5, 2011

My husband and I will be starting CR England school in a week. So thanks for your postings.
All I know is that driving is something we have wanted to do and we have to take a chance. It's a calculated risk and we hope we're up for it.
Thank goodness though that I have friends 15 miles away from the school and do NOT have to stay in a motel of their choosing!
One question though...anyone have anything decent to say about leasing? -
Welcome to The Trucker's Report.
I'm goin' on the assumption that you and your husband have thoroughly researched the Big truck truckin' industry and C.R. England in particular, --- the good and the bad, --- so that y'all aren't unaware and/or uninformed of C.R.E.'s less than stellar reputation. That knowledge can help y'all avoid potential pitfalls.
If you've done much readin' here about C.R. England, the company, there should be no doubt that I don't recommend C.R.E.
Although I've never been employed by C.R.E., I've been aware of their reputation for over 20 years now. I've had conversations with current C.R.E. drivers, both company and lease/operators, former company and lease/operators who were branded as havin' "Poor work ethics", yet do well at truckin' companies with a different business approach.
Some of the stories are hard to believe. Some of 'em I don't wanna believe. Some of 'em I wouldn't --- if not for the frequency of the same complaints. Even some who changed their opinion from good to not so good, or worse, after their C.R.E. Experience.
Yet there must be folks drivin' for the Sons-0-Chester who are doin' well, ... treated fairly and are content. We have a few who post here makin' that claim. Maybe with their assistance more wannaBees will find success, ..... if they should elect to go with C.R.E.
Your minds are made up, --- so there's no need to try talkin' y'all out of this. From here, the best plan is to support y'all's decision and wish the best of success.
I realize it's a lot to ask, but, ................
If you could keep us informed as you go through the experience, I'm thinkin' there are many who could benefit from such a read.
But y'all's number one priority is to learn as much as you can as quickly as you can, while you can because you can, until you can't.

as i'll also ad in batman. a dispatcher has no idea what a driver goes though out on the road and or at shippers or receivers unless they have been behind the wheel themselves.sorry i cut the last post short yesturday had to run.

I wish I could dig up the thread a couple that went to CRE school a couple of years ago made . They ignored warnings , sure they would be the exception .
Then the horror story started including the trainer from hell that would use whiteout to alter their logbooks .
Then at the end of training they were told the only trucks available were lease trucks
