Yeah you're not getting an oil change done for that cheap anymore. The oil and filters darn near cost that. That $250-$300 was about 10 years ago maybe? I never let anyone change my oil either but I saw a post in here some guys were talking about $500 lube/oil change jobs being normal now
yeah I think if I was still running a truck I'd continue to DIY oil changes. Takes about an hour or hour and a half if you're going slow?
Keepforgettingmypassword Thanks this. -
A lot of it is convienience. Its a pretty big f around to get things done at a shop if the truck is your only set of wheels. You're just sitting there in the lobby, staring at a wall for an hour while you pay them $200/hr. May as well save the $200 and do it yourself.
Invest $2k in tools and I bet you make that investment back in under a year.D.Tibbitt, lester, Keepforgettingmypassword and 2 others Thank this. -
like with most diy jobs, all depends on when and how many times I have to open the fridge….
I think oil was $220 alone last change for me, 5 2.5 gallon jugs of valvoline blueKeepforgettingmypassword and rollin coal Thank this. -
Get a ball valve drain plug and you can easily drain your oil straight into 5 gallon buckets for easy transport.

DD15 LOF $400 at the dealer a couple months back. This time I bought the filters from the dealer. I changed the oil and filter, they changed the fuel filters. No charge.

I've got a battery powered 5 gallon pail pump I will send you for free. You'd just need a section of garden hose to screw on for the outlet side. It works good but was just too slow for me. I bought a Milwaukee transfer pump. PM meKeepforgettingmypassword Thanks this.
