I got wrote up for this one about a year ago. That particular member of Maryland’s finest has an obvious hardon for LTL trucks and grabbed me 4 times in a month once.
I think the prick sported wood when he saw my “dangerous” placards and figured he’d get to ding somebody for a hazmat violation, got mad when he couldn’t find one, and resorted to pulling the cheap “chafed air line” card that you can probably write up 90% of the trucks on the road for.

That’s a little harsh for some who dings you during an inspection.

And the inspectors at the California scales with the inspection bays are not DOT cops. Just paid to inspect trucks. Unlike the ones that run around in the pickup trucks.
