Countrycruiser, can't reply to your pm yet (need the magic 50 posts) but hopefully everything is working out well for you.
As far as the different exit numbers depending on direction, I've never seen that before. Exits are numbered according to the closest kilometer marker (much the same as on the interstates).
Watch your speed coming across from Detroit if you go that way. 100 km is 60 mph, and even though they let the cars zip on past at 130, they'll nail YOU for 105.

I cringe every time I go under an overpass up there, darn metric system
-
That reminds me, how many metres is 13' 6"?
-
13'6" = 4.11 meters . http://www.teaching-english-in-japan.net/conversion/feet/

I've never seen it before either.

Call your broker ASAP and say you are crossing in 3 hours, even if you mean 3 days. Otherwise you are taking a chance that your paperwork will get lost or forgotten---I speak from experience.
Yes I always tell the broker that I am crossing several hours before I plan to be there and after the paperwork has been faxed I allow apx 30 min then I recall the customs agent to verify that the paperwork was faxed and in order ....for me to cross. I do this going both directions when loaded
countrycruisers Thanks this. -
Well that's a little extreme but I do put my eta at the border 2 hours earlier than I expect it to be . That really has made a difference in having clearance when I arrive at the border . It also helps to use the PARS fax cover sheet Livingston provides . I had a link to it but it no longer works . They have the cover sheets in Livingston's offices or you can find them at Livingston International's website . Click Carriers then formsLast edited: Nov 16, 2008

Yes. On the 402/401. The exits are sometimes labelled by the mile marker (kilometer marker). This means you might see an exit 4 going EB but an exit 6 going WB for the same road.

I'll double check next time I go to Canada. I know I've seen it before, and I'm sure it was on 401 but enough of you are disagreeing that I'm starting to question myself.

I've traveled the 401 countless and I have nver seen that.
