Hey all,
I am moving over to a flatbed company next week and they are putting me in an 07 Mack. Was in info overload and didn't catch the model but it looks similar to a Columbia as far as body shape. I know it's a Cummins with a 10 speed. Just looking for a comparison as far as driving characteristics compared to what I've driven so far ('10 Columbia, '12 ish Cascadia, 07 Eagle 9200; all highway cabs). When I go in to start training, I will get a better spec rundown on it for more info. Most just wondering about steering characteristics. (The Columbia turned like a barge, the Eagle turns on a dime.)
First Mack....

Probably a Mack Vision. I have always found Macks to have a boxy feel inside the cab, but once you get used to them, they aren't bad. The ones I have driven tend to have squeaky suspension for some reason, but they have decent turning radius and pretty good ride.

Any major mechanical things to know about? Like all the Eagles in the fleet I'm in now drink more oil then diesel. Anything like that?

you say it has a cummins with a 10 speed so as far as engine related stuff it will be the same as any other truck speced with the same drive train.
i like my 2000 they have a decent turning radius and ride. if its a mid roof watch your head going to the front cab from the sleeper till you get used to it. -
I've never had a Cummins so I don't know anything about em. The freight shakers were Mercedes and my eagle is a Cat...

use to be you were not a REAL TRUCKER until you drive a MACK the newer models handle very well compared to the older ones and most likely have had or can have the steering stops adjusted to allow for tighter turning radius

Given that my nick name has been J.J. Mac most of my life, I have needed to drive one since I started.

Sorry you won't be driving a B-81 Mack,,great truck , put a lot of miles on one B-81SX with a quadraplex trans and air steering

Used to drive an R-Mack years ago. Never could figure out the need for the third, blue brake button.
