The funny thing is, those who drive NYC regularly and Chicago just every now and then, would say the same thing in reverse. They know it, you know Chicago. The principle is the same, slow and easy, know your route, and keep your cool. Big City driving is Big City driving. Chicago as I recall, its been a whole two weeks since I was there, has a number of low overpasses that can ruin a drivers day. A wrong turn there is not a lot of fun either. One great thing though about having soany drivers intimidated by NYC is that the drivers who are not, are usually paid a bonus to go in there. There are also other ways into NYC than the GWB, but as another poster pointed out, go in at the slow times and it speeds up the process tremendously.
I have had curbside deliveres there where they bring a Forklift and a handjack out, put the hand Jack on the trailer and you move the skids to the doors so they can take them off.
Yeah but you got the Dan Ryan Freeway that takes 4 hours to cross. A lot of places will unload you on the street. They'll drive a fork lift outside, put a pallet jack in your trl, and one guy will tailgate the pallets while the lift driver pulls them off.
bakeries aren't that small.u should call cust maybe your route has a detour due to construction or low bridges.u also should think about purchasing a NYC atlas it sure did help me when I took a wrong exit into the Bronx.
This will be a never ending thread. You Super Truckers can have your easy peasy NYC and I will keep my "low bridge" 4 hour Dan Ryan Chicago
I am going to call them. There's an address discrepancy. The bills say one town, but Google says the bakery is in a different town. Same street, though. Good idea about getting NY atlas, I'll do that.
Has nothing to do with being a Super Trucker, and everything to do with easing a guys nerves on his first time into NYC. As I and others have said, if you can drive in one big city, you can drive in another big city, its a skill set.
give me NYC almost any day i drive 41 to 94 WI to IN twice a week lots of traffic just like everywhere else there are too many people and not enough roads tons of jobs that say no NYC are perpetuating the myth plenty of jobs dont go west of I 35 people are skeered of the mountains
