Going to haul 11 wide in Texas. From Tx to Tx. Are beacons required? Legal height and length. I keep reading conflicting info. From what I gather is beacons are required over 13' on pilot cars only....? Is that correct or am I mistaken?
Also should I wait to load and measure before ordering my permit. I was told 11' but what if it's 11' 2"?
Thank you
First oversize, Are beacons required?

It will say on your permit. But, I believe over 10' needs signs, flags, and beacons in Tex

You don't need a pilot for width until you get to 14'. Except some two lanes, I'd have to double check that.
snowman_w900 and villageidiot Thank this. -
No beacons needed

I'm looking at a 10'6" permit from a couple weeks ago. It says nothing about beacons. Signs or flags either.

Get a permit for a few inches wider than they say it is. If it's loaded a bit crooked and you get the wrong officer, you're screwed.

I didn't order the permit until I got there to load. It measured 11' 2".
I permitted fir 11'4".
Glad i waited on the permit.Tug Toy, snowman_w900, PeteM and 2 others Thank this. -
No beacons needed. On the portable buildings we haul we don't even need banners. Just flags on the corners.
Tug Toy and villageidiot Thank this.
