So, a little over 90 days flatbedding and getting into OS/OW, had a 90 day review and it went smoothly.
I gotta say all in all, I enjoy this much more than pulling a reefer, or even water in the Bakken.
It’s something new everyday, everyday a new adventure and a chance to completely screw everything up.
So far to date my biggest dimensions are like 99/100’ total Length, 14’ Tall, and I believe 12’ Wide is as big as I’ve been so far.
I enjoy it. It’s fun, however, some days are not so fun. Some days are absolute nightmares of nothing wanting to go according to plan. Most days though, most days are fun and enjoyable.
I think a lot of it comes from where I work, small/med sized company, anything I could ask for I get and that makes it all the better.
Learned a lot, yet, we still have a lot to learn. Seems to be it’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll. We have some pretty big trailers in the yard... every time I’m there I can’t help but stare in awe.. and then think of the absolute nightmare it has to be using it and planning all that out lol.
Life is good. I’ve only messed with one RGN when I was in orientation, seems complicated, and good way to mess things up if you don’t know what you’re doing.
So for now, I’m just gonna keep learning what I’m doing, cause some days I don’t even know.
If I was to say it didn’t make me feel proud of myself when a oversize load gets completed with no hiccups I’d be lying.
Sometimes, it’s really cool being the only oversize truck in the parking lot and folks wanting to ask what it is. Sometimes though, I’m so tired I’m hoping no one asks and anyone I encounter forgets how to speak.
All in all, I love it.
First oversize.

I used to love making a left turn with a D-6 or bigger dozer on board.
Watching people panic when they saw 13 feet of dozer blade coming at them was priceless.

I was pulling a section of a smoke stack from AL to GA and was stopping in AL at a Shell. Rayburn I think might have been the name of the exit.
Like 95’ long. Pulled up, back it in next to a van driver. The lot there doesn’t have lines and the spots are long, long and wide enough I could get out.
Whole time I’m backing up this guy is watching me. So, the look on his face made me think I hit something, jump out, check, nope. All good. I finish backing in and the guys like, na, I couldn’t even lol that, that made me feel super awesome. Can’t lie. Definitely a proud moment.jamespmack, Lepton1, TripleSix and 3 others Thank this. -
