Thanks for that! Been off for a bit, took this week off and starting back to work Tuesday.

Haven’t posted in a bit cause it’s just been busy and hectic. I haul small fry stuff compared to some of these drivers.

It’s a different world entirely compared to bumping docks.

Tons of good reading on here and glad you’ve decided to pursue getting into this.

Yeah I figured you weren't quite haulin 100 ton loads just yet! Ha I felt like you're a lot closer to about where i'm at. I just recently came across on netflix heavy haulage australia and man i'd love to do that kind of hauling. I'm not sure if you've seen it if not you should check it out. There's quite a bit of tv drama I feel like but it's neat seeing the types of loads they haul. I personally haven't ever bumped docks went straight to hauling equipment as soon as I got my license (for my dirt business) and since that has sort of taken a turn downhill I figured I could put my experience to use going for hire. The main issue I feel i'm going to have is I don't have any "experience" on paper other than working for my self. Just got a quote back for changing my insurance to for hire and boy oh boy it's higher than I imagined.. I'm not sure if you have your own truck or not but if you do, do you think there's enough out there to justify paying 11-1200 a month for just insurance?? I am slightly reluctant about taking the plunge on my own and heading into the unknown so to speak.

I’m not an owner operator, so to that part I couldn’t say yay or nah.

Before I got into this I had thought about taking that route and moving either reefer or oilfield freight, decided against it. I got insurance quotes and they were about that a month (estimating) if I wanted to go the own authority route. 13 - 15k a year I think is what it was. Decided against it. Didn’t want to deal with all of it.

Several owner operators on here could probably answer it though. @Ruthless @TripleSix @Heavy Hammer and I’m sure there’s tons more I’m forgetting.

I’ve never seen that show, I’ll have to look it up.

I will say that IF I was already an owner operator and decided to get into this and already had some of the experience you do I probably would have went somewhere like LS, Mercer, etc and just work up from there.

Alas, I am not so that may or may not be the best advice.

Also, about being enough out there, well I can’t answer that either. I know where I work we have 0 shortage of work and our few owner ops seem pleased and busy, so I guess if you could find somewhere to keep the work up I would say yes, financially speaking I could see it being justified. Although there are more costs, as you know, permits, escorts etc. the potential for higher revenue is definitely there.

Again, just my opinion as a company guy, so take it for what it’s worth lol.

Current situation. Picked up in Florida heading to Washington State.

A/C went out. Currently giving serious consideration to sleeping on the deck.

    It’s hot in this box.

Pick up a Burton fan. I frequently sleep without idling if the temperature drops below 80°F. You can point it towards you as you drive.

    Take the northern route.

I'm assuming he has an inverter, any cheap fan will do as well or better than those 12 volt ones. I keep one that I got for ten bucks or so in here and it really helps when it starts warming up.

So, had my first encounter with the Wyoming POE in Cheyenne on 25 about 30 minutes ago...

It went great. Called them 2 hours prior gave them the information requested.. rolled in.. scaled out, parked, walked in paid my monies and got my permit.

    Easy peasy.

I truly forgot how nice it is out west. It’s so refreshing to come out here vs the norm of going east like I normally do.
