IIRC, here in MD you have to be through any toll facilities with permit loads on saturdays by noon.

Alright, so, delivered the load this morning, went and got my 2nd oversize load. Essentially the same stuff, except it’s going from OH to MS. Read my permits and routing on them a few times. Luckily it was after X time so I didn’t have to wait to go through a certain county in KY. Stopped at a small spot with barely any trucks, pretty nice actually minus the no shower bit.

Fun story for the day. Left shipper in Ohio, following the route to a T, on the permit it states OH to KY line finish on X hwy.

Well, I’m on said highway, see a sign that states “Welcome to Indiana “ WTF, at this point I’m feeling my heart drop to my stomach, trying to make sure I’m still on said hwy I’m supposed to be on and I am. Go over the Ohio River bridge and boom, “Welcome to Kentucky”.

Worst 5 minutes of my life.

Well good story problem is you went off route, you should have went east on 275 not west. Stuff like that is a BIG problem if your real wide or tall or even heavy. If you want to do this you need to pay more attention.

Luckily, it was OH, like .5 mile of IN, then entered Kentucky on 275. So,I’m where I’m supposed to be now for sure. Luckily, that tuition didn’t carry a price tag, just an embarrassing internet story. Though, you’re right and I should have.

I was uncomfortable with height at first, but have gotten comfortable with it over time. That’s not to say I don’t watch like a hawk, just not as nerve wracking as it used to be.

Of course, most of the stuff I do is in TX, OK & NM, once you get out of the cities & East TX, it’s pretty much wide open. We also have a steady, good group of pilot cars we use, they know their stuff & do a great job for us. The leader of the group has been doing it for about 25 years & he insist on being involved with the permit ordering process & isn’t bashful about telling the permit office why a particular route isn’t good for the dims.

That feeling you had. The moment you get that again. Pull over and check your route. Your subconscious "knows".
    Good luck.
