I would even say that they should pay what the current market shows. On a rejected loaded from VA to WI ; original rate $1600 back in Nov 2018, Uber paid me $2800 to return it, which was what the DAT 15 days indicated and I used it as an argument. They wanted me to return it for $1600...I said that that was the back haul rate from there to here and nobody would take it for this little going outbound to Richmond. It took them a few days but I felt comfortable at home.
The sad thing is that now these ARE the exact outbound rates.
If the opposite direction were true though, I would have agreed to $1600 to haul it back to WI...to be fair I guess.
