My last run in the Eisenhower tunnel was about 11 or 12,000 feet up and I had what would be called a drop in blood oxygen saturation. By the time I pushed on to denver at a lower elevation I was fine. Or more accurately recovered. It was not a good experience that night with the body progressively going bad the longer I stayed up there. Vail was difficult to say the least.
When I was much younger I was introduced to hpoxia (Sleepy with altitude) when we tried for 14,000 feet in a 172 RG and we only got to about 13400 and had to quit when my mid 30's pilot started falling asleep. We were back below 3000 with a spiral drop in a hurry for his sake. Otherwise I would have had to put it down in Hagerstown that day at the airport there. Soon as we got below 5 grand, he woke up and alls well.
Doctors looked into my case a time or two in the recent years but think it's associated with blood pressure. Which has been less of a problem these days particularly this year. Its been excellent. Although we may still look into the brain a little deeper this year if that comes back. Where I am I am very near sea level at 300 feet give or take. And there should not be a problem with oxygen saturation most days.
First run dizziness *help*
