I actually let my Hazmat endorsement expire because I wasn't really using it. The only reason I got it in the first place was to try for local propane driving jobs.

But yeah Maine is a nice ride. I've only been here once before driving tractor trailer.

You've likely got a FAST/Xpress card as well? Ya, when hauling auto parts and other Fast approved loads, you rarely have a problem.
I still have a FAST/Xpress card, but my company isn't CT/PAT qualified, even though I am. So my card really isn't any good for anything but ID anymore.

Ya, I let mine go when I went for the enhanced license, like an idiot, I might add. I didn't know my FAST card could be used like I do now, and my passport had expired. Long story short, so I just gave away my HazMat endorsement so I could get going back and forth again. I could hang that dweeb down at the SoS office for screwing up my HazMat, I'd taken the test AGAIN, passed it, but he never said a thing about another background check, so, 3 weeks later I still hadn't gotten my license, did some phone calls and found out the guy screwed me. I needed to get going so I just said screw it.:biggrin_25510:

    Where in Michigan are ya?

I'm in Camden, MI in Hillsdale county. I'm like 30 minutes from either Indiana and Ohio.

It's an area of bad unemployment. I could not find a local job so I did trucking for a few years. Tried to find a local job again and still couldn't make it happen. So I'm giving the Van Expedite thing a try.

Eventually I'm giving serious thought to saving up some money to relocate.

Ya, it's not good anywhere here really. Pretty much know right where you are.You sure don't want to come up here. The only thing we have is forestry type stuff, or minimum wage in retail jobs. The good jobs get filled fast, and open up very slowly. I feel real lucky to get on like I did with the guys I'm with.

I wonder if those are still considered FAST loads. I vaguely remember the paperwork you're talking about. I think the auto industry in general has some sort of agreement with the CBP, I can't remember for sure.:biggrin_25525:

    OMG

I've been in front of the border for at leat 10 hours waiting to be cleared on the Qualcomm. I was well ahead of schedule now I'm sure I'll be late.

I faxed my bills to my company in the afternoon yesterday figuring the most it could take to clear me would be a couple hours not this long.

That sux!! Do they require that they do the paperwork? I had a whole looseleaf notebook with all the brokers phone numbers, fax numbers, for both sides of the border, and did my own thing. It saved a lot of BS cutting out the middle man. Let me guess, Livingston is the broker? They have a nasty habit of saying they got your fax, and then 2 hours later when you call them to see if you're cleared, they say, "Well, we never got your paperwork"! After faxing your stuff, always follow up with a phone call, although in Livingstons case, it never made a difference.:biggrin_25510:
The guys I'm with now do it all for me, and that's alright, they have their act together, but when I was OTR, I preferred to do it.

I was going through Tri-State. They said it doesn't usually take that long but dragged on partly because I started it Sunday evening.
