First time CDL holder looking for tips and tricks.

Does the stops have security patrolling

 

Act like a decent human being. Respect others when driving and in person. Don’t litter. Don’t run over stuff. Carry yourself like a young professional. Dress like your at work not on the couch. Keep your truck clean.

Be the absolute best you can be. Strive to be better than your peers.

 

Some do... In really bad neighborhoods. My opinion if it's bad enough to need security, then it's also to bad for me to stop.

 

That makes sense

 

1) take your time to think things thru.

2) do not believe all the chatter at ANY truck stop lunch counter, in fact, stay a way form that and always get a table.

3) get precise directions form the customer or street maps or a truckers road atlas. DO NOT buy maps geared up for car drivers.

4) try to "eat right", do not over do the high calorie snacks and overly sugar loaded soft drinks, (or coffee)

5) park far from the truck stop, and WALK to the building, this will be of some benefit as it'll be "some excersise"

6) try to respect, no...RESPECT other people's property by not leaving trash, using it as your personal bathtroom.

7) if someone hits your truck or trailer, while you are parked, IN A PROPER space, report that ASAP. try to make sure you get the name of the company, truck number, maybe even the trailer number, these alone can be of great help to your safety dept to contact that company

8) ALWAYS COMUNICATE with your dispatcher regarding being late, being early, or any other situations. DO NOT take it upon yourself to "just do it" on your own, that could sink your job. wait till you get at the very least 6 months to a year of experience, most likely your company will tell you, "you should be able to handle this, let us know how you made out"

 

I agree with everything you said except this ... it should be ....always get out and look ... ALWAYS.
