I was going to say there would be no backing in or pulling out and around especially on the east coast. You would be wrapped around the building into the middle of the street.

I haven't posted much on here in the past and just searched my company name on a whim today and saw some of these posts and felt they needed correction. Some of what is being posted is accurate, the majority isn't.Mike2633 Thanks this. -

@duckdiver - There was no need to apologize. I think you asked some legit questions. We don't have a ton of trailers so it's pretty easy to keep track of them all.

In all seriousness though I think it would be cool to do a nyc route (as a ridealong passanger). I was born there and visit some winters and noticed a lot of basement/underground deliveries. I was at a rooftop lounge once overlooking a fedex facility and those guys have to blindside jackknife off the street to get in their docks

My career started 25 odd years ago doing day trips into Port Authority Bus Terminal for Short Line in a MCI coach bus, then 20 years ago this month I took my first tractor trailer trip into NYC, heck it was my first ever tractor trailer run, hauling cars. I got the gig with complete bs, they hired me to drive a flatbed to move non running cars then one day needed a driver for the 7 car. I had the class A but had only ever driven my dad's tow trucks and dump trucks with tag trailers, but I got it done and 20 years later I'm still hauling cars, well until the end of the month at least then it is off to a brand new adventure outside of daily driving.
I will five the food service guys a lot of credit, I took a side job a time or two delivering in the city and Long island, spent 6 weeks with Metroplex Harriman doing Mc Donald's, although the 45 foot trailer and day cab was easier than my car hauler, it sucked humping 1500 cs a day down the rollers. The only easy food service job I had wasn't exactly food service, it was grocery work to the Grand Union chain of stores.
New York City isn't scary if you pay attention, just remember no one cares and you will do just fine.Andy7317, Mike2633 and Crusader66 Thank this.
