Hmm, at the end of my time with my trainer we were basically running teams. We are required to show a safety inspection once a day before driving. Say I start driving at 0600 and end my driving at 1800 and he takes over he would not log a safety inspection, then say he drives past midnight and stops for something at 0200, before he starts driving again he would log the safety inspection for that day. And whoever logged the safety inspection that day would fill out the inspection report in the logbook. Though I believe this is incorrect as you are responsible for the condition of the cmv while you are driving it and at any shift change the new driver should have to log a safety inspection and fill out the inspection form in the logbook. But according to company logging dept we were fine doing it his way.

I'd look up the regulations that cover pre/post trip inspections !!!

When I did run any team I had to split the driving at least every 5 or 6 hours. I cant lay in that bunk no 7 to 10 hours.

Nothing more annoying then a bulb to burn out and you don't catch it in time.. I was pulled over once in my car for a burned out headlight that actually burned out on my way home.. Now I even do checks on my car, especially lights ever since then! That bulb turned out to be pretty expensive after all said and done
