I dont have a radar detector, but I do have a dash cam that could be mistaken for one at a quick glance
That flying j in missisauga is barely much of a truckstop, maybe 30 spaces, and they are always near full, better to try and find a petropass cardlock, most of them have truck parking and much less crowded, toronto doesn't have alot of truckstops and alot of local drivers park in them at night as well.
My reciever has overnight parking, so I just plan to get some food before I arrive, and take a 10 hour there...but can I cash a comcheck in canada? or do i need to get $ before I cross the border
I would go with the cash Most places will accept US money but they will give you Canadian for change. I was over there this morning and bought some food near the border. When I got home and put my Canadian change in the jar, I noticed that the girl who gave me change gave me a bunch of Jamaican money.
Oh one more question, for ontario, my understanding is the weight limits are going to be: 5500kg on my steers or 12,125lb, and 18,000kg or 39,000 pounds on my drives and trailer (my drives and trailer are a tandem axle)
Don't judge all of Canada based on what you see in Ontario, we're much nicer the further we get away from Toronto
Yes steer axles weight go right up to 9000 kg, almost 20 000 lbs if axle and tires are rated for it. and 18000 on normal spread tandem I bet your US debit and credit cards should work in canada, I know my canadian cards work in US and mexico
Also carry last 14 days of log sheets with you, and canada reset is 36 hours, but if your legal under our 70 hours in 7 days, a US reset might be good enough for a short canadian visit, reset is not mandatory, you just need to stay under 70 hours in 7 days.
You won't get hassled with the resets, they will accept the US reset being you are coming from a terminal in the US. I had no question about the 7 days prior either when I was inspected, they accept the US regulations unless you are a regular customer at the Canadian customs booth.
