If NYC had a hard on for 53s the could sit on food center drive in the Bronx and write tickets 24hrs a day .

This goes into the same category as the "No left lane" on the cross Bronx or needing fender mirrors. Just another law that gets enforced in that lovely place, if you mess up. Just take your time and be smart!
bzinger Thanks this. -
Is it why loads there pay so much better? Because of all of this hassle? Or is it because the outbound market there is rather poor? I've never been there, but heard too many horror stories. The Walking Dead biting people and all.

Never thought a moment about that 53.
Never go onto a parkway.
I never knew about the yellow and white signage snowpack or not. Hell, we ran em snow and all. Hell, we never were around when a forecasted winter storm barreled into NYC. If you knew anything you would flee the place before getting snowed in.
I hope you brought pre-pass or wahtever it is for transponder paid tolls rather than cash.
DO NOT go south of the williamsburg onto Manhatten, It's the Steel Ring post 9-11 a fortress. There is nothing for you and your big truck in fact, you might cause a national emergency if you went that way.
Keep in mind People who fought at Gettysburg PA in 1863 (Around 150,000 total) a majority of the vets spent months if not years hand laying those bricks on some of those NYC bridges for a living after the war years.
There is nothing else i can share with you because NYC in my day was and is way different than today. All I have to offer is stories.Metallica88 and bzinger Thank this. -
Never miss your exit in nyc.
WildTiger1990, bzinger and x1Heavy Thank this. -
go in early before the KAOS begins. If you can. 65th st will get you to the BQE.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Speaking of Early, if you come in on 78 in Jersey, do stop at the 76 there inside the line about the 7 exit. You will find excellent maps of NYC if not already using google earth today. Everyone starts to leave out for NYC by 3 PM. goal is to get across the GWB or one of the other bridges by dinner time. The real battle begins at dusk and does not quit until morning.
Earlier today a big truck lost it on the Jersey Side during the two lane curve about 1/2 a mile past the GWB. Couple of rotators worked on it then. It should be out of there by now. If not? tsk tsk tsk.
